Complications with the Surgery: An Adi update

Guy surgery was very complicated, much more than originally anticipated and he is now in ICU where sterilization is very critical. Therefore, please no visits to make sure no possible contamination is introduced.

Guy's jaw is wired shut, so he can't speak. He is breathing through a hole punctured in his neck. His face is very swollen and he is in a lot of pain and is constantly sedated. He is trying to distract himself from his condition by asking me (Adi) to read him stories and the latest news. He wanted to know what people commented in the blog, so please keep writing. We will keep updating through the blog, so no need to call.

- Adi

Hey Guy,

I sent you a private email, but if you don't get it soon and I'm unable to visit you, I wanted to leave you a quick message here so that you know I am wishing you a speedy recovery. I know you have great strength and that you and your family will pull through.

Best,

- Yishan

Guy,

Glad to hear the surgery was successful. Your brain is intact, so I hope you’d be inspired by this anonymous quote: “Scientists solve problems that *can* be solved; Engineers solve problems that *have* to be solved”. That’s one heck of a problem you’re in, but I’m sure you can make it.

Be strong man,
Yair Harel.

Hi Adi,

I was thinking of visiting today. But as you said, Guy needs to rest and be in a sterilized environment, I will continue to check the blogs for updates and visit when appropriate.

All our wishes and prayers are with Guy, you and the family. I know this is a very tough time for you, but hang in there.

I was telling Brad that my younger brother undergo somewhat similar surgery. He had an accident in which his cheek and other facial bones broke in several pieces/places. The surgery was complicated and the doctors had to put the bones back together using titanium plates and screws. The surgery was long and complicated, but after that, with each passing day, he was gaining more strength and now he is back on his job better than ever! :)

What I want to say is the toughest and the most important part, the surgery, is over. It will be all downhill from here. You are one strong family. And everyone’s wishes are with you.

Best,
--Amit

Hi Guy & Adi,

Reading through the blog about what people have to say about you & Adi makes me feel I have known you for longer than I know. Your strength at this time made me realize many things in life & I am proud to be a part of your team. You do have an amazing family filling the blog with funny, inspiring & supportive posts about you & Adi.

Last night my husband said a prayer for your recovery which I consider special since he does'nt pray normally :) He admires you and Adi for staying strong through this time.

You are in our thoughts & prayers,
Sandy & Gopal

Hi Superman
So you think you can fly?Whats next? Walking on water across S.F. bay?
We keep track on your progress through this blog and morning phone calls to Benny.
Last time in Vegas we talked about a ride on the top of the Strat. hotel, which generate a lot of G force, and you said:"No thanx, I had enough adeventures". Well, the ride still in operation and its only 1000 feet above the street.
Guy, we'r thinking about you and Adi and wishing you aspeedy recovery.
Later we may fly over to see you and your parents.

Dear Guy, Adi and Shira,
"Human beings figure out somewhat more of their true direction, not by the high stars, but by stubbing their toes on things stuck in the mud they are slogging through." -Carolyn Gratton

Well, you did a heck of a lot more than stub your toe, so your "true direction" for the future must be very bright!

Our thoughts and prayers are of you and for a speedy and full recovery for not only the physical but the emotional toll all of this has thrust upon each of you. We will be sure to keep in touch.
All our love,
Risa, Opher, Orri, Rotem and Amanda

Guy,
Getting injured at a company event was NOT a competition! You stole my crown! Although, in comparison, I tore a fingernail next to your story.

I am so sorry to hear of your injuries and pray that your pain is eased, your family comforted and your spirits raised. I look forward to seeing you again very soon. It is not the same here without you.

Adi, Guy and Shira,

I couldn't belive it when my parents told me about Guy's accident.

Yanir and I will stay tuned through this blog, and I'm sure things will just get better from here.

If there's anything we can help with, being in Boston, just a little closer than Tivon :) just let me know.

Are thoughts are with you!

Hey Guy,
this is Amir (Hermelin).

I hope to come and visit you soon. Even know we don't know each other too well, I do know you for a good, honest guy and I know you are tough. Surgery is over and I know that until you fully recover there's always fear and doubt, but remember that in a few months this will all be behind you.

Just hang in there and keep your mind off the pain and other stuff, and in a year's time you'll have your very own blog as just a distant memory of what once happened.

Best wishes,
Amir.

Dear Adi,

i'm writing you here instead of calling because i know you're swamped with calls... plus your Mom is great with sharing info whenever i bug her (you guessed i had some personal interest with that cell phone, huh? ;) )

anyway, i just wanted you to know that i'm thinking about you all the time. your amazing strength, focus and determination are a true inspiration. Guy is such a lucky man to have you! (although, i have to admit, his overall luck situation is questionable at this point... need to work on that one)
hang in there my dear friend, and keep doing what you're doing - love him and take care of him and help him thru this hard and painful experience. you're both strong, you'll both make it - i know it!

and for all of Guy's friends and family who are there in body or in spirit - Michal, Malka, Sam, and everyone else (i know there are many!) - thank you for taking care of Guy, Adi and Shira for all the rest of us who need them. no one, not even a superwoman like Adi, can do this without tons of support, and from what it sounds like, you all are a wonderful, wonderful group of people. although i don't know you, you're all are in my thoughts and prayers as well. stay strong and be well.

love,
Anat

Guy,

I sent you an email at your Gee, Mail account. While that says all sorts of things that aren't appropriate for a blog, this is where I get to say things that are.

So here I go.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
Very appropriate for a blahg.

Work's not the same without you, man, but don't come back too soon, or Brad will have to pull an Adi and limit your computer time. :)

I'll be out there on the last day of April for probably a week, so hoping to see you then.

Mark
