Moving out of the Intensive Care Unit

We just received news from Adi that Guy will be moved out of the ICU and into a normal hospital room at Stanford. Guy was able to whisper his first words today, "Hello Adi!"

Noteworthy progress:
  • He was able to sit in a chair for a few minutes
  • Adi said he is less swollen today
  • Guy is thinking about food for the first time in a week - he reminded the hospital, "no fish, no cheese and no pepper!"

Guy really likes hearing Adi read the blog comments. Please keep them coming and a special thanks to Grandpa Haim for posting his first comment.

Hey Guy -

So glad to hear all of the great progress you are making on your road to recovery. We are all thinking of you. As soon as you can receive visitors, I think they will knock the doors down there to see you! Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hello Guy,

Great news on moving out of the ICU. I just got back from a 1-day trip from Phoenix. We held an FinSys, FinProd, and Risk all hands there. Your Marketplace team joined us for Doug Park's portion on the high-level business strategy.

My flight back was delayed a bit and just got in (11:26 pm). Fortunately, Hank Pham was on the same flight back so we kept each company at the airport. ;-)

I will come visit you guys soon.

So now you are racing ahead, to stun everybody with your ability to recover. First you shock us with a bigger hit, than you throw us off with a "roadrunner" spead of getting better. What next? heal yourself with just a touch of your hand?
You are such an extraordiner mentch, I am honord that you chose me to be your aunt...
This blog is the best invention of the century! I go through it a few times a day to get updated and to enjoy the love you are sorrounded with. It also keeps me off of your mom's phone every couple of hours, so she can tend to you or Adi or your unbelievably smart Shira.
Can you imagine that it chalanged saba so much, that he refused to give up until he can sign in. Now I can't even wait for his comment.
I love you very much, did I say that already? so I am saying it again, just in case. Abig hug and a tiny kiss from me.
Natan is also following your progress with me, and wishes you the best, and Alona asks about you when I speak with her from the mehina. She's not home this weekend, so probably write the next weekend.
Love and health from all of us,
Noa :-)

Hi Guy,
I just found out about this - I was visiting my wife for the last couple of weeks so wasn't in CA and just got back in. I wish I had found out earlier.

It's such a great relief to know that you're well on your way to recovery - I wouldn't expect anything less from you! :) I just want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are constantly with you and your family and I'm sure you'll come out of this stronger.

I'll keep checking back on this blog to stay updated on your progress - really looking forward to a blog post from you! :)

Hi Adi,
I know that this must be a particularly difficult time for you and so if there's anything that I can do, please don't hesitate to contact me - my cell phone is 408-688-6203. I'm at your service 24x7 and I'm one of Guy's many die-hard fans so will do anything for him. :)

Bestest Regards,
--Salik

Dear Guy
When we first got the info. about your accident, we felt almost like the world is coming to an end. On a second thought – even worse. At times like these, thoughts and imagination are running wild.
Later, when we were informed that not only are you alive, but you even manage to communicate and that your personality was not damaged, we felt as if the world was recreated .
At the night of your surgery (local time in Israel) I wrote to you a few lines as comments, but due to my incompetence of getting along with the computer, it got lost. What I tried to express in these lines, was merely fear and hope.
After we got the news that the surgery was successful, we where thankful that my comment did not go through.
Later I tried again, but again could not get through. So this is my third time.
Grandma & myself are watching you making progress and are full of hope and trust in your ability to overcome the pain and suffer.
I don't know any perfect human being, but you sure are as close to it as anyone can be.
Our only prayer is to have you back to what you were before, i.d.the same old Guy.
Watching Adi performing the way she does is extremely admirable.
Reading the comments that people write to you is of no surprise to me. But the fact that all of them discovered the kind of person you are, shows what a group of intelligent and caring people are around you.
Grandma and myself love you so very much.

Guy, my brother, we're coming!
Finally we reserved tickets to come and be with you. I miss you so much and want to see you already. I want to tell you that the moment I heard of your fall I immediately thought of what to pack. It was that automatic that Ella could not even understand what I was talking about. However, after talking to Adi and Ima it seemed that it would have been better if I waited. So, forgive me for asking for permission instead of getting on a plane right away, but it seemed like you were surrounded with people who love you and care for you. I promised myself I will see you soon, and so as you've probably heard, Dad and I are coming on Tuesday. I don't know if we'll have an opportunity to see that day (we're landing at 10pm), but you're face, be it red blue or black, is the first thing we want to see when we wake up in the morning.
Good job on your speedy recovery and your perseverence. It was great to see grandfather's response. Reading his words is almost like sitting at their kitchen table and listening to him talk.
Asaph.

PS
Purim is nearing so don't obsess too much if your face looks too colorful.

Hi, Guy -

Glad to see you are doing better... I did not get an email from you joining the first annual "Hospital Room" Decorating Contest. I will lobby your team to include your room in their theme aisle :).

The bad news is that you are not here with us, but the good news is that everything is on track and doing well. So this is a good time for a break. The roadmap is done, the projects are locked, and we are all set to go...

Take care!
Deb

Hey Guy & Adi,

You're in our thoughts, struggling to obey your request to hold off visits for now...

Shira & Ilai had lots of fun playing together on Thursday afternoon and we hope that it won't take too long before things will return back to normal.

We know that communication is somewhat limited, but please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything that we could help you with.

Tammy & Tal

P.S.

Guy, stay strong and get well soon, you're still on the hook for the XBOX tournament :)

Hey Guy -

I've been following your progress throughout the week on this blog. I figured that now that you have had your surgery and are out of ICU, it will be the best time to leave this message for you to read.

Your toughness and resilience amazes me each time and is inspiring. Every comment on this blog about how strong you have been through the whole process is so much in line with how I have always known you. It is so good to read that the worst is behind you and you are progressing well. I hope you have a speedy recovery. I remember you in all my prayers. I will come see you with some other people from work this week.

- Fayez
